This is a genuine Mexican Fire Opal, set in 14k solid gold. The stone has the most beautiful natural fire — a deep reddish-orange that catches the light in a way photos never quite capture. It is a 6mm faceted fire opal, clear with no visible inclusions, set in a 14k solid gold tube bezel that’s open at the back to let the light play through. The chain is a delicate 14k solid gold cable chain, 1.3mm, finished with a secure lobster clasp.

Fire Opal is a little different from the opals most people picture — these stones were deeply revered by the Aztecs, who prized them for their fiery, iridescent colors resembling the feathers of a hummingbird or the flames of the sun.
